Toubia family’s new restaurant has an opening date

The Toubia family’s Piccadilly Grill reincarnation has an opening date.

Two Olives will open in the former Chelsea’s space at 2949 N. Rock Road on Sept. 12, according to a just-updated voice mail message at the restaurant. The first week, it will serve lunch only from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Then, on Sept. 19, it’ll will start its regular hours, which will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Two Olives will be closed on Sundays, but brunch will be served at the neighboring Olive Tree banquet facility from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Joumana and Randa Toubia closed Piccadilly, the restaurant they’d run at 7728 E. Central since 1989, last September. The building they’d been in was demolished, and the landlord leased the space to Sprouts Farmers Market, which should open sometime in early 2017.

Since then, they’ve been serving brunch and carryout items out of the Olive Tree banquet facility and working on remodeling the former Chelsea’s space. They’re preparing to release the menu for the new Two Olives but have described it as a “chef casual” cafe and have said they’ll include many of the Mediterranean dishes made popular at Piccadilly Grill. Customers will order at the counter at lunch so they can get in and out quickly, but dinner will be full service. Two Olives also will have a full bar and patio.

I’ll update you on the new menu when it’s ready. Fingers crossed it will include my favorite Piccadilly Southwestern chicken pizza.
