08 May Ted Branson leases former gas company headquarters to KwiKom Communications.
KwiKom Communications, based in Iola, Kansas, has leased 10,800 sq. ft. of office and warehouse space at 3845 W. Harry in Wichita. KwiKom, a corporation providing High Speed Fixed Wireless and Fiber to the Home and Business services, with a growing network area of over 12,000 square miles including over 25 counties in Kansas and Missouri, recently acquired Pixius Communications out of bankruptcy. KwiKom was about double the size of Pixius. According to Zachery Peres, VP of KwiKom, “The Pixius acquisition is adding over 8500 square miles and 15 additional counties of service area to our network, and we have a healthy model for operating it. Pixius had 60 towers in the Wichita and Central Kansas area, and KwiKom will be adding over 100 new towers throughout central Kansas in the next couple years.” They have an in-house construction crew with several HDD boring machines, bucket trucks, and associated equipment as well as in house tower climbing and construction crews. Currently, they are building fiber in Fredonia, Iola, Garnett, and Osawatomie. “With the Pixius acquisition, we are looking for markets to build fiber to the home and business in central Kansas as well. Our goal with fiber has been to build to the communities others may not, we beleive in rural communities” says Peres.
With all of that, KwiKom needed a larger building quickly, tapping industrial real estate broker, Ted Branson of Landmark Commercial Real Estate, Inc. The lease of this former gas company headquarters building to KwiKom brings to full occupancy an 8-building complex at Harry and West streets that Branson sold to Decker Holding Company in 2019. Other tenants include the corner Total convenience store/gas station at Harry and West, TruGreen, Diamond Vogel Paint, Machine Tool Sales, Concord Battery, and a two-building, 16-unit complex of small office/warehouse tenants.
