13 Aug Instead of four planned Sport Clips Haircuts sites, franchisees now opening a seventh
When Monique and Roger Haynes-Robertson opened their first Sport Clips Haircuts franchise in 2005 at New Market Square, they thought four stores would be enough for the Wichita area.
A lot has changed since then, such as a whole new area of development at K-96 and Greenwich, where they put their sixth store in 2017.
“That didn’t exist 15 years ago,” Monique Haynes-Robertson said.
The Haynes-Robertsons now have signed a deal for their seventh store, this time in central Wichita near the southwest corner of Central and Hillside in a strip center where Starbucks also is.
“You can’t get better than that as far as a next-door tenant,” Monique Haynes-Robertson said.
The new store will open Oct. 13.
“One thing we’ve been lacking is a centralized location for clients,” she said.
Haynes-Robertson and her husband considered downtown but chose Central and Hillside instead for a couple of reasons.
First, she said there are great traffic counts, and many large businesses and several neighborhoods nearby.
Also, Haynes-Robertson said a lot of Wichita State University students already go to the Sport Clips near 21st and Rock Road.
“Now, they’ll have two options.”
For the time of day Sport Clips is busiest, downtown also didn’t make the most sense, she said.
“We’re busiest on evenings and weekends, and we didn’t want to be in a spot that was just catering to the daytime people downtown.”
Zach Zerbe of Landmark Commercial Real Estate handled the deal.
Monique Haynes-Robertson thinks the new store likely will bring in a variety of new customers.
“I think we’ll see a whole different demographic there coming in, which will great.”
