Hinkle Law Firm is consolidating its two Wichita offices and moving to the Waterfront.

The firm will occupy three of the seven floors in a new office building that will be located at 1617 N. Waterfront Parkway.

reported on the construction of the building in July. Crossland Construction Co.is the general contractor. Already, a $13.5 million permit has been pulled for the building’s shell. LK Architecture is designed the building.

Hinkle will move 110 people into the building — 70 employees and 40 attorneys — when construction is completed next summer, likely in August 2016.

The building will bear the Hinkle Law Firm name. Murfin Inc. is the developer.

Hinkle’s managing partners say the continued growth of the firm has made operating two locations more challenging. The new space, managing partners say, will create efficiencies within the firm.

The building, which backs to the Waterfront’s shore, will have an open feel and include multiple terraces overlooking the lake.

“Although saddened to be leaving our downtown Epic Center presence of more than 27 years, we are very excited about this move,” says Mike Herd, one of Hinkle’s three managing partners. “The new location will only increase the firm’s ability to serve our clients at the highest level.”

Herd helped negotiate the lease for the new building.

“The building will be unlike anything else in Wichita,” he says.

This will be a marquee addition to one of Wichita’s premier Class A office parks. The Waterfront is located at 13th Street North and Webb Road. The development features a mix of office, restaurant and retail.

Plans for the 166-acre Waterfront development materialized in 2002.

The development really started to take off in 2003 when Commerce Bank leaders committed to building a 125,000-square-foot headquarters building overlooking the lake and Webb Road.

Since then, other high-profile Wichita businesses, such as Delta Dental of Kansasand Foulston Siefkin have moved to the Waterfront.

Recently, much of the Waterfront expansion has centered on a new phase on the west side of Webb, called Waterfront Plaza.
