As expected, a hotel is going to open to the south of the new Wichita Sports Forum atGreenwich Place, a 106-acre development at K-96 and Greenwich.

No one involved is talking about it yet, but there’s paperwork making its way around City Hall that shows the hotel will be a more upscale brand of La Quinta.

The Del Sol prototype is the newest concept for La Quinta.

The limited service brand is comparable to a Hampton Inn in quality.

The hotel will have 118 rooms, WiFi and breakfast.

Nick Esterline of TGC Development Group is the developer.

It looks like the hotel will take about a year to build.

There’s been lots of Greenwich Place news lately.

Bed Bath & Beyond, World Market and BuyBuy Baby all recently opened there.

Joining those stores will be Wichita’s third Ross Dress For Less and third Ulta Beauty. Also coming will be Designer Shoe Warehouse; HomeGoods, a home decor sister store to T.J. Maxx and Marshalls; Cavender’s, a Texas-based western wear store; and Mardel, a Christian book and gift store, though none of those stores is confirming the news yet.
