09 Jul Barroco Mexican Grill and Derby Pita Pit open
A couple of new restaurants that Have You Heard? reported on previously are now open.
Barroco Mexican Grill opened on Wednesday in the former Kobe Steak House of Japanspace at 2330 N. Maize Road.
Like so many restaurants, Barroco opened a few months later than expected.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily for now, though they could extend to 11 p.m. eventually.
Don Piros of Landmark Commercial Real Estate handled the deal for the space.
Pita Pit is also now open in Derby.
Franchisees Tony and Debbie Palomino took over the Pita Pit franchise at 3242 N. Rock Road in Wichita in January 2014 and on Wednesday opened one at the Derby Marketplace.
The restaurant opens daily at 10:30 a.m. It’s open until 9 p.m. on weeknights, 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 8 p.m. on Sundays.
“People are loving it,” Tony Palomino says. “I’ve had a lot of great feedback.”
He says diners are telling him they like having what they consider a healthy alternative to fast “junk food.”
“That’s what they say, just like that.”
The Palominos are interested in a west-side Pita Pit next, though it will be next year at the earliest. We’ll keep you posted.
