West Wichita’s new Cracker Barrel has an opening date

We’ve watched it going up as we’ve driven past Kellogg and Ridge for the past several months.

Now we know when Wichita’s new Cracker Barrel — the first new Kansas restaurant the chain has opened in 20 years — will open its doors. According to a news release, the new restaurant will start welcoming customers at 6 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 12. (That’s in four weeks!)

The restaurant is planning to hire 175 to 180 full- and part-time employees. Those interested in working there are encouraged to apply at CrackerBarrel.com/careers.

The new Cracker Barrel, which was built on the site of the former Palace West Theatre, will be in a 10,000-square-foot space, will include a front porch, and will seat 180. The only other Cracker Barrel in the Wichita area is at 995 E. 61st St. North.

Wondering what they’re building right next door? It’s likely the new Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen planned for Wichita’s west side.
