17 Mar Apricot Lane closes for now; here’s what the new owners plan
Kami and Mark Murphy have closed their 7-year-old Apricot Lane at Bradley Fair — the last day of business was Sunday — but new owners are going to revive the business.
Chad and Ali Raymond are reopening the store at 21st and Rock Road later this month and plan a grand reopening in April.
“My wife has a huge passion for fashion,” Chad Raymond says.
The two also own three AAMCO Transmission shops in Wichita and one in Salina.
They began working on a deal to open an Apricot Lane in Salina and ended up speaking with Kami and Mark Murphy about taking over their business instead.
“We’re going to completely restructure it,” Chad Raymond says.
That includes new management, new inventory and updates throughout the store.
The Raymonds plan a soft opening for March 27 and a grand reopening for April 2.
They also plan an Apricot Lane for the west side and one for Salina as well.
Chad Raymond acknowledges that the coronavirus may alter their Bradley Fair plans, but not for long. He says the worst-case scenario is that they’d have to push back their opening date.
If that happens, it happens, he says.
“It’ll at least get people excited when they are able to go out. It’ll give them something new to go to.”
