WSU’s Longhofer receives lifetime achievement award

Stan Longhofer’s 22 years as the leader of the Wichita State University Center for Real Estate has been recognized with a lifetime achievement award from the Kansas Chapter of Certified Commercial Investment Members.

The Kansas CCIM chapter normally works with the WSU Center for Real Estate on the annual award, so this one took Longhofer by surprise.

“I was truly stunned and deeply honored,” Longhofer said. “While I have devoted the bulk of my professional life to educating and serving the professional real estate community throughout Kansas, I never expected that my work would be recognized and appreciated in this way. The past recipients of this award are legends in the Wichita commercial real estate community, and I am humbled to be included in their company.”

Longhofer was hired in 1999 to revive the university’s real-estate program and to rebuild relationships within the Wichita real-estate community. Longhofer and the Center provide research and educational programs for real-estate professionals in the regionl. WSU says Longhofer has given more than 300 presentations about the real-estate market.

Longhofer is credited with molding the local real-estate industry for decades through teaching and mentoring students who became involved in the profession.

Honorees since 2005 are Colby Sandlian, Jack Hunt, George Ablah, Jack DeBoer, Nestor Weigand and Michael Weigand, Steve Clark, Herb Krumsick, Dave Burk, Rod Stewart, Don Slawson, Darrell Leason, Phil Ruffin, George Laham, Steve Martens, and Paul Jackson.
