The new Firebirds Wood Fired Grill is getting its finishing touches. The restaurant at The Waterfront in northeast Wichita is set to open Oct. 7. You can check out how it’s looking in the slideshow (HERE)
“It’s a fantastic location,” said General Manager Stephen Wright. That location is the former Brooks Brothers location, at the center of The Waterfront’s main retail strip at 13th and Webb Road.
The restaurant specializes in steak and seafood but also offers a large selection of salads, sandwiches and burgers. It will be open for lunch and dinner, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. All steaks are cooked on a wood-fired grill. The 7,651-square-foot restaurant has rich, dark woods, slate floors and leather seating. A private dining room has a video monitor for meetings and a large TV for entertainment. The dining area faces a large, open kitchen. A covered outside dining area runs along one side of restaurant, and an outdoor lounge area along the other side. The bar, flanked by back-lit red glass, will feature a “waterfall” display of colorful liquor battles, Wright says. A lounge and fireplace are adjacent. This is Charlotte, N.C.-based Firebirds’ 26th location. Wright says he’s hired about 125 of the 140 people the restaurant will employ. He estimated about 300 people have been interviewed. He’s operating out of a temporary office just east of the restaurant.
